Audition Information for Salisbury University Poms Dance Team

 

 

1. Who can audition?

You may audition if:

You are a full time (12 credits) undergraduate student at Salisbury University in good academic standing.

 

2. What do I need to bring on audition day?

A bottle of water and your smiling face!

 

3. What do I wear on audition day?

Please be dressed in clothes you can move in. We suggest a form-fitting top and bottom that is appropriate (preferably black), dance shoes,sneakers or barefeet.  Hair should be worn in a ponytail pulled back or in a bun.

 

4.  Do I need to bring my own routine?

No, there will be a routine prepared for you perform. You will also be required to show the following technique; a clean right or left double pirouette or more, a clean high toe touch, a spilt, a cylypso, a spinning disc, and a clean leap in second and to both sides.

 

5. What should I expect from the audition process?

You will be given a number and led in a group warm up. The routine will be taught, a short break will be given then you will be called in as a group of 2 to 4. You will be dismissed after you audition and an email will be sent later that evening with your tryout result.

 

6. Do you need previous experience to audition?

No you do not. Just come on out, and do the best that you can! :) 

7. How many dancers are you picking?

Please contact President for more information.

 

8. Can my mom/boyfriend/ friend watch auditions?

No.

 

9. How many times a week do you practice?

Practices are (generally): Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays- 7pm to 9pm

*If you are interested it is up to you to be organized and manage your time wisely in order to make practices and the different team events. Also, if you miss 2 practices consecutively without an appropriate excuse you will not be able to perform for that event, however you must be attendance.

 

The Salisbury University Poms Dance Team is a highly respected organization and we hold our member to high standards, academically and socially.
